1. In short
Your conversations stay between your device and your own computer. The only thing that leaves is the short spoken line, which has to be sent somewhere to be turned into text and back into speech.
2. What is sent
While a call is running, the audio of what you say is sent to our speech service and on to a speech provider for transcription. Replies are sent the same way to be spoken aloud. This is the audio of a single spoken turn, not the conversation.
3. What is not sent
The conversation itself — your prompts, the replies, your files, and everything Claude Code does — travels directly between your device and your computer over a channel encrypted end to end. We cannot read it, and it does not pass through our servers.
4. Speech providers
Transcription and speech are performed by third-party providers under contract to us, currently including OpenAI. They process the spoken line to provide the service and do not receive your identity.
5. No account
Clack has no sign-up, no email address, and no profile. Your device is identified to your own computer by a key created when you pair, and to our speech service by a signed receipt from Apple proving an active subscription. Neither identifies you personally.
6. Local storage
Settings are stored on your device. The pairing secret is held in the device keychain, is excluded from backups, and never syncs to iCloud.
7. Payment
Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details. We verify a signed transaction from Apple to confirm the subscription is active.
8. Analytics
The App contains no analytics, tracking, or telemetry.
This website does count visits, using our own Umami installation on our own server. It sets no cookies, follows nobody between sites, and stores no personal data: a page view, which page linked here, a country, and whether a button such as the App Store link was pressed. There is nothing in it that identifies you, and nothing is shared with anyone.
9. Retention
Audio is processed to produce a transcript or a spoken reply and is not retained by us afterwards.
