Clack, /voice, and Remote Control
Claude Code can already hear you at the keyboard, and Anthropic's Remote Control already puts a session on your phone. Clack is neither: it is the one for when you are not looking at a screen at all. Here is what each actually does.

When to use which
If you are at your desk and your hands are on the keyboard, use /voice. It is free, it is built in, and nothing beats dictating straight into the session in front of you.
If you are on the sofa and want to read the diff and type a correction, use Remote Control. It is a proper window into the session, it syncs across devices, and it is included in your plan.
Clack is for the third case, which the other two do not cover: the session is running, you are not at the machine, and you do not want to look at a phone either. A walk, a commute, the washing up. You hear what it decided and why, you say what you want next, and the work carries on without you sitting down.
Common questions
Does Clack replace Claude Code's voice mode?
No. Claude Code's /voice dictates prompts while you are sitting at the terminal, and it is free with Claude Code. Clack is for the times you are not at the terminal: it reads the session out loud and takes your answer, with the screen off.
How is this different from Claude Code Remote Control?
Remote Control is a window into your session on a screen — you read and you type. It also needs a Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan, and it does not work with an API key or a custom API endpoint. Clack is audio: you hear what the session is doing and answer out loud, and it attaches to your sessions however they are authenticated.
Does it work with the screen off?
Yes. That is the point. Put your AirPods in, lock the phone and leave the house; Clack keeps reading and listening.
Do I need Tailscale?
Yes, for your own machine. Clack talks to a small relay you install on your Mac, and the phone reaches it over your own Tailscale network — so your code never passes through a server of ours. Setup is about five minutes, once.
Does it start sessions for me?
No. It attaches to Claude Code sessions you already have open and lists them by name. Starting work is still something you do at the machine.
What does it cost?
The app and the Mac relay are free. Speaking and listening are a subscription at 4.99 EUR a month, with the first week free. Reading the session and typing to it work without one.
Which model does it use?
Whichever your own Claude Code session is using. Clack does not run a model of its own — it carries your voice to the session on your computer and its answer back.
